Sahrawi Observatory For Natural Resources And Environmental Protection
Founded 2013 | Relaunching in 2025

About SONREP
The Sahrawi Observatory for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection (SONREP), formally known as OSNR, is a civil society institution dedicated to monitoring, documenting, and campaigning against the illegal exploitation and plundering of Western Sahara's natural resources by the occupying power and foreign corporations.
Founded in 2013 and now undergoing a strategic relaunch, SONREP works at the intersection of environmental protection, resources justice, and human rights. Our mission is rooted in the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and sovereignty over their land and natural resources, as enshrined in international law.
From phosphates to fisheries, from sand to solar farms — Morocco continues to exploit and plunder Western Sahara’s resources without the consent of the Sahrawi people. SONREP exists to expose these violations, hold actors accountable, and advocate for the restoration of Sahrawi control over their environment and future.
